"Frustratingly High Hydro
Bills"

Lived here for two years in a small, one bedroom apartment. We had a good experience despite the unit being very outdated and landlord (Ernesto DiNardo)will replace with low-end appliances or repair as cheaply as possible. He never fails to collect rent ontime for himself but any money owed to you (cheque for interest on last months deposit) basically has to be pried from his hands. Our biggest complaint, along with several others in the building was for the extremely high hydro bills. It is suspect that the condo board has made some very fishy arrangements/have a monopoly over heating and cooling bills. We rarely used our air conditioning or heat in the winter and replaced all bulbs with energy efficient ones and still our bills came to over $250 bi-monthly. We were not an end unit either, sandwhiched snuggly between other units so it was always warm even with the heat off. We now own a 3-storey home and pay a fraction of the heating/cooling costs-it is ridiculous and something worth looking into!

Bi monthly as in every two months?
unregistered user on February 12 2016:
Yes, bi-monthly is every 2 months. You might be confused with semi-monthly, which would be twice a month.

Weird about the hydro...have a two bedroom end unit there and have only paid $35-40 in the summer (using a/c intermittently). Winter can be as high as $55/month.
