"Good space, well
maintained, excellent
location"

This is a well run building. The improvements are many and as needed, with new roof, paint, great caretaker and nice garden area. You can walk to anything, and the suites are really big by todays standards, around 1000 square feet. They are mostly 2 bedroom and 2 full bath, with good sized kitchens and gas fireplaces. It was built in the mid 90's but has a hardi plank exterior. You can get newer ones nearby for alot more money, and they are much smaller, and most buildings in the downtown area have traffic noise so it doesn't matter there. Nice building. You can live here, not just a place to sleep.

"Brookman Place Rocks!"

This condo is amazing. 1000 square feet, 2 bed / 2 bath with a great layout. You are so central to everything downtown. Walk to the Market on Yates, Floyds Diner, London Drugs, Starbucks, all the movie theatres, convenience store, etc. My wife and I loved it. 2 spaces for us to park our cars securely underground. Strata fees are reasonable and the contingency fund is healthy. Pet and rental friendly. The building is wood frame yet it has 2 inches of concrete on each floor for sound proofing. Very quiet except for the odd partier on the weekend which the strata council was good at dealing with. My wife and I own a dog and neither of us ever felt uncomfortable walking around in the early morning or late at night. In fact, she tripped one time and a "homeless person" came to her aid. Sure there are rough people around the area but the police have increased patrols in the Harris Green area to compensate. "Our Place" send staff out each morning very early to clean up any debris or undesirable things on the ground. They are increasingly becoming more accountable for their actions which we appreciated. Brand new roof and the driveway has been sealed. Nice garden and very quiet!

"Fine Digs"

A colleague and I house-swapped for a year - my place in Montreal for his in Victoria. I thoroughly enjoyed my time and this was a pretty damn good place to live. Great space. Lots of light. Friendly enough people in the building. Good layout and features in the two bedroom, two bathroom unit I was in. Definitely a highly walkable location. Everything I needed was just around one corner or another. (Go to Floyds, say Hi for Jake, have the Monte Cristo). Was still glad for the underground parking, though. The elevator was a bit quirky. People didn't always carry their animals through the common areas like they're supposed to. It made me laugh a little bit to see a comment below about "downtown Victoria becoming a crime-riddled wasteland of heartless, thoughtless, soulless, degenerates", or something like that. It's a funny little opinion I've heard before which mostly seems to come from those strangely homogenized life-long Oak Bay residents. It's an attitude that made me stop, look around, and confusedly wonder if we were talking about the same place. Seriously? Victoria? THIS Victoria? You think THIS Victoria is a dangerous, gone to the dogs, pool of baseless inhumanity? Seriously? THIS? Ha! I guess some people just don't get off the island much.

""A Dump"? That's
ridiculous!"

This is an absolutely excellent building. The location can't be beat! The units are well-laid out and sound transference wasn't an issue. There was some confusion as to the strata rules about pets but that was never a big deal. I had a great 1000 sq ft ground-floor unit with a garden and patio in the back. I often wish I hadn't sold it. Best of luck!

You should be glad you sold your unit there. Lost of new units built or being built with lots of security which is needed in this neighborhood which is turning into Victoria's version of Vancouver's downtown east hastings areas. Low rise buildings like this with inferior security are going become and sounds like already have become easy break & enter targets.

I'd check out 932 johnson over this place, reasonable priced units, good security or any of the resale units at the nearby corazon/juliet/wave etc although the area around where the falls/astoria/aria is located is more ideal/secure but pricier

I strongly disagree with the above comments. I have lived here for 15 years, and I still love it. The street people are what makes me feel safe when I walk my dog after midnight! There hasn't been a break in here for over 9 years. Ever since we added a second security gate with controlled entrance.

"it's a dump"

it's a dump, i'd avoid renting/buying in this building. noise from the street people is fully audible in the suites. Much nicer condos in the juliet and the wave are close by, making this building look even worse than it is. Quite a few units on the upper floors have been broken into via the balcony.

this makes me wonder if you work renting out or selling suites in the juliet and wave... hmmmmmm

I don't know anything about 935 Johnson but I stayed in the Juliet for a week and found traffic sounds through the windows on the fifth floor fully audible, as was the pedestrian 'walk' beep. Don't imagine good things about the Juliet until you've tried it.

I've been on the strata council for 2015 I have been an owner and on the strata council for 5 years and have not heard of anything like this in my time. The only issues have been some break ins in the parkade, a while ago, which happens in the downtown area.
