"Van Horne building - a
gem"

The Van Horne building is in a fantastic location in Gastown, one block from the clubs on Water Street but just a few steps from the now updated intersection of Carrall & Cordova Sts., where new and trendy cafes and restaurants have recently been developed. Being directly opposite the upscale and pricey Koret Lofts historic building, Van Horne is surprisingly well priced and has studios and small apartments which are still affordable for young people. In fact, it's a good building for either living or using as a weekday pied-à-terre. For a female, the area is extremely pleasing and safe. The building is very well run and maintained, with a full time caretaker and a strata council of young, downtown professionals. In fact, it's a bit of a hidden gem which deserves a visit to fully appreciate. A large well-kept garden at the back of the building, not visible from the street, encompasses trees, flowers and landscaping and a barbecue area. Another plus are two good hairdressing salons at street level. We bought our apartment five years ago and the improvement in the area has been phenomenal. As each year goes by, these streets are brought more and more into the mainstream to the point where property investment here, especially at the Van Horne, is a very smart move.

"COOL"

One word says it Cool! If you are looking for a unique place with great views, and sure to get the attention of all that visit, I think this a great building for it. With 2 level lofts with panoramic views, curved window walls, you will love it. Now the area is another story, but really, if you want that downtown industrial feel that goes with many lofts then this is the place. If you want to feel safe taking late night walks alone, this may not be the place.

The neighbourhood as improved slightly but the building is draped in tarps now. Strata was not very good, seemed to attract the mentally unstable owners. Lots of security issues and the noise in the area is crazy.
