"Worst Building in
Manhattan"

I recently moved out of 77 East 12th, and sold my unit. This was the most horrendous building I've ever lived in in the city (and I've been a resident of Manhattan for 30 years and have rented in 5 buildings, owned in 2). First impressions are everything. My initial meeting with the board should have showed me to "stay away". They interviewed me with such an heir of arrogance, you could choke on it in the air. And for an averaged priced building (jn comparison to the rest of the village, of course), such attitudes were not expected and should not be tolerated. After I moved in, I noticed that many of the amenities that were discussed prior to my move, were not actually available. Or were available some of the time, and was promised full time. Something you would never know prior to moving in. Things just kept going downhill. I came home to two mice scampering across my floor (although I'm still not convinced one wasn't a rat...it was HUGE, and we never caught them using traps, so I guess we will never know)), and my neighbor got bedbugs. There were problems with the water fixtures in the apartment, and the maintenance team never responded. I had to hire my own contractors after a month of putting in requests to have them come and respond to the situation. It ended up costing me $1,000 and when I asked to be reimbursed, the board refused. You get the picture. Great location, and looks good from the outside, but consider yourself warned.
