Rented a unit in this building

"acoustics poor"
Careful, you won't notice it at first, but the acoustics in this building are poor. All sound from the corridor can be heard in my suite, such as loud conversations and doors slamming. And it seems the concrete floor must be all one slab for all the units, as I can hear my neighbours inexplicably moving and dragging furniture at all hours, including from 3 to 6am. Next door neighbours' partying is also quite audible. If you are sensitive to noise, I wouldn't recommend this building.

We rented in this building for 6 months and had the same problem. I don't blame the upstairs or side to side neighbours for the noise - I think they were just living their lives but the building was poorly constructed for sound abatement. It doesn't help that the suite entrance doors are too short so that there is a gap between the bottom of the door and the floor, allowing for all hallway conversations to enter the suite. We also found that the suite was hot and we couldn't open the only source of fresh air - the sliding door - as it faces the truck route-heavy E. 2nd Ave. Further, the neighbourhood is in transition and is still unsafe. Dirty needles, zillions of car break-ins in the area and in the underground 'secure' parking garage. We didn't like it there at all!
Thank you for the heads up! Will avoid.
