"Good Value"

I lived in this building and got more than I expected. The Suites have a nice layout and lots of light. The balconies are well designed. Some of the apartments are facing the inner Courtyard and have a nice view. Management is awesome; always have the building clean and very cooperative with tenants. The community room is huge, bigger than most I have seen in other building. There are 2 guest suites available to rent at a very reasonable cost. This building is also fully rain screened and still has building warranty. In summer 2008 the entire building inside got painted and new carpeting in the hallways. Building has a nice look to it as well, I think for the money this is a good Buy. The only negative I have to say for this building is there is no gym or pool.

Families, Professionals, Investors, First Time Buyers, Young Couples

I have lived in this building since built. The strata/management is NOT tenant friendly. Over time the strata fees have unreasonably increased considering there are no costly benefits like a pool, gym, etc. They continue to waste money on excessive gardening and creating rules that only inhibit enjoying the few features the building has to offer. The caretaker is very nosy and gossipy. This is a nice building, but like living in a communist regime.

I agree about the Strata Management, they DO keep the place tidy due to Vic and the new hired cleaning lady (they're awesome)...BUT a neighboring unit keeps making false noise complaints and nothing can be done because she is on the Strata Council. She's a lonely middle-aged woman who doesn't go out much except to work. She has nothing better to do and our frequent appeals to her false accusations are totally heard on def ears. It's all hearsay and no one's listening to our side because the crotchety woman is a major part of the strata council here.

I bought new and sold in 2007, I lived thru plenty of noice and some not so desired tenants in some of the units that were rented. I hope this has changed for all the current owners living in Melrose Place.

I currently own a unit here at Melrose Place. Nothing bad to say other then ALL stratus tend to be run by lonely individuals who have the time to attend all the minutes and ensure matters are looked after. The building has THREE very strong points: Fully rain screened, new roof, and is kept very very clean. I was so impressed with this bldg while we were condo hunting... so many other bldgs are in shambles, pure shambles! Very happy here. But if you think strata is only so-so, I do encourage you to take a spot on council. Plus, it is good to rotate in new people on council. Cheers!

I own a unit since may 2012, been here for almost a full year and everything is good, building is clean, and management are responsive about my neighbor hammering and stomping all day.

I am an Owner at this building. I gotta say I am very impressed. Alot has changed since. We have new people on Strata that get stuff done. Very fair but will come down like a hammer when needed (i.e. when valid complaints about noise are received, etc). So every since the Strata shuffle... living here is a dream. Vic, the caretaker, very nice man and works *extremely hard* - yes he is a gossip but it is a good way to learn what's going on around the bldg. Cheers

i have to agree, Strata Council in this building will try to drive you out with false accusations this lady has nothing better to do and has clearly joined the strata board not to help maintain a safe and enjoyable environment but instead to control and prey on innocent owners. its no surprise she is lonely and i honestly think crazy. buyers please be aware i also encourage all owners to vote her out.

I don't currently live here I'm just condo hunting at the moment, how ever it was great to read these reviews, info like this is very helpful in determining if this would make a suitable place to buy. I also understand the complexities you can run into with cranky condo/council members and some extremely in your face, to be frank. I currently own a condo where by the strata council members willfully participated in a domestic dispute and dammed one person in a double owner condo, well it got so bad that the condo owner decided to hire a private investigator to acquire enough information to file a major lawsuit against the council members that participated. Well this is how I see strata council if they want to accuse you of anything just contact your attorney to see what your rights are are have your attorney send council a letter that you are considering litigation for any unfounded or unproven allegations, you will see just how fast they will change their attitude toward you,why because this is your home not a concentration camp where by strata council can play favorites and bully other condo owners as some are well known to do. lawsuits or threats of lawsuits usually put a quick end to any disputes shoved on you by creepy council members.. Anyhow I hope this is helpful to everyone who owns or and new home owners.

I currently live here and can't wait to sell my place. It has been a nightmare living in this building. Smoking is a huge problem and isn't being dealt with. The strata seems to have their priorities wrong and send out warning letters over stupid matters but neglect the ones that really matter. The building does get maintained fairly well. The strata manager seems to be useless as well with poor communication.
